The European Parliament supports World Cleanup 2012

This week the majority of the European Parliament – more than 400 MEPs among them vice presidents and almost all political groups’ presidents – has decided to offer their support to the global clean-up project World Cleanup 2012, initiated by the Let’s Do It! movement. It is a civic movement based on voluntarily cleaning up the environment – in a single day.

The EP adopted a Written Declaration clearly stating their support for the project. MEPs also call the European Commission to support World Cleanup 2012.

Indrek Tarand, one of the main initiators ot the WD nr 3 said in the plenary in Strasbourg: “This WD has been initiated on the citizens’ request. The people behind the global civic movement “Let’s do it world” who are organizing the World Cleanup 2012 believe that the support of the EP will help them to support their action and ease their liaison with national and local powers.”
